Sometimes in life you just need to get away…..That is what Mr. G, Big C, Little C and I did this weekend. We woke up Saturday morning ready to tackle some more garden and survival projects and we just didn’t have it in us. Mr. G travels a lot for his job and we were all in need of some quality, intensive family time. It would have been more cost effective to just hunker down in our house, but I truly believe that every once in awhile a good splurge is worth it! We have money set aside for times like these and it was time to tap into that cookie jar. We headed to The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs, CO and I am still smiling from all of the fun we had! Here is the view from the outdoor hot tub…sorry for some of the picture quality but I didn’t even bring my camera this weekend. Thank goodness my phone was able to snap some pictures!
Big C loves room service….so do I, and we let him live it up! They had some great specials at the hotel this past weekend so it was actually cheaper to order in then go out.
We also spent a lot of time swimming in the indoor pool with the boys….so fun

Mr. G also surprised me and got me a massage at The Broadmoor Spa. I was so excited for this and it was such an amazing experience. I was such a girly girl for the day and it felt great.

The Broadmoor is beautiful at night and the boys enjoyed walking around the grounds and sitting by the numerous outdoor fireplaces.

While in Colorado Springs we also visited The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. We are members and it is a must see for our boys each time we visit Colorado Springs. I don’t think that feeding the giraffes will ever get old.

This weekend was definitely not about home cooked meals, frugality, self sustainability, gardening, or anything else that I usually write about, but it was about family. Creating experiences with my boys means more to me then anything in this world. Mr. G and I were chuckling on the drive home saying how blessed we were to be able to have a weekend like we just had, but also that living in a dream world is fun but our reality is also fabulous! Give me a tent in the woods or a 5 star hotel as long as we are together the rest is just sugar on top. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

How nice! I am jealous, too! My family SO needs one of these weekends.
